– Hello

I'm Hannah Ziegler

I’m a reporter covering breaking and trending news for The New York Times as a member of the 2025-26 Times Fellowship class, a program for early-career journalists.
Before joining The Times, I worked as a breaking business news reporter for The Washington Post, covering everything from personal finance and taxes to food and retail. I graduated from the University of Maryland with degrees in journalism and information science. While there, I served as the editor in chief of The Diamondback, the university's independent student newspaper.
My reporting has been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Barron's, The Baltimore Sun, Maryland Matters, The Seattle Times, NPR, MarketWatch, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Diamondback, Capital News Service, Montgomery Community Media and others.
Outside of work, I love running, watching women's soccer, shopping secondhand and spending time with my family back home in Michigan.
Thanks for stopping by!
